The META Fellowship, a partnership between Mass Cultural Council and The Klarman Family Foundation, is the first program of its kind to convene a statewide community of music educators and teaching artists.
The priority of the New Salem Cultural Council is to fund a variety of cultural activities that serve all age groups we also to serve a variety of community organizations; for example: area libraries, schools, the Council on Aging, social media platforms and historic buildings.
Priority will be given to local applicants whose proposal pertains to, affects, and can be easily accessed by townspeople and will directly enhance the cultural strength and diversity of our community.
In addition to following the state criteria, we evaluate and give priority to applicants that have made prior arrangements for a local venue and have an approved budget in place. The Council tries to fully fund as many applications as possible. When we make the decision to partially fund a project, we will give priority to those projects that will still be able to move forward with partial funding.
Applicants will be responsible for their own publicity.
Several regional grant receptions will be held to honor a new round of nearly $9.3 million in Mass. Cultural Facilities Fund grants and to thank the many state elected officials who have made this program possible. The events will include remarks, refreshments, and lots of time for networking.

The New Marlborough Cultural Council is a vibrant group who through active fundraising is able to provide cultural and educational programs for people of all ages in our community. Our mission is to enrich the lives of all community members through the grants and programs we provide. Each year we award up to 30 individual grants that expand school programs, send students on trips, help local artists and bring cultural events to the town. The Council also sponsors several annual events. Each summer, our Elihu Burritt Day festival fills the Town Green with music, food and crafts vendors, community organizations, a white elephant sale, petting zoo, children’s activities – including hay rides for children of all ages – and an antique car show. State Representative Smitty Pignatelli presents an award to a townsperson who has given outstanding volunteer service. To warm the winter months we also sponsor a potluck dinner.
