En Mass: Award-Winning Massachusetts Sculptors
May 21 – June 22, 2008
Opening Reception: June 6, 6 - 9 pm (SOWA First Friday)
(Boston, MA) - The Massachusetts Cultural Council (MCC) and Boston
Sculptors Gallery will present En Mass: Award-Winning Massachusetts
Sculptors from May 21 – June 22, 2008 at Boston Sculptors Gallery
in the South End. The exhibition showcases five winners of 2007
MCC Artist Fellowships in Sculpture/Installation: Alan Colby, Peggy
Diggs, Matthew Hincman, Ariel Kotker and Nick Rodrigues.
These artists were selected from a pool of more than 250 applicants.
Jurors included curators Laura Donaldson, Paul Ha and Linda Norden
and artist Susan Spencer Crowe.
This is the second year in a row that Boston Sculptors has featured
the work of MCC Artist Fellowship winners. “It’s a pleasure for
us to partner with Boston Sculptors Gallery to present the work
of some of the Commonwealth’s most gifted artists,” says MCC executive
director Anita Walker. “These fellowships are incredibly competitive.
We’re excited to offer this exhibition opportunity in order to highlight
the quality of the work.”
MCC Artist Fellowships provide direct assistance to Massachusetts artists working across a range of disciplines, to recognize exceptional work and to support the further development of their talents. Artist Fellowships give individuals the financial ability to hone and deepen their craft.
Samples of the artists’ work can be found on Gallery@MCC,
the MCC’s online showcase of Artist Fellowship awardees and finalists,
available at www.massculturalcouncil.org/gallery.asp.
